KSB was founded in 1985 by the City of Smithville and the Smithville Garden Club. Today it is managed by the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce and a board made up of local volunteers who collaborate with the many dedicated local organizations and individuals helping to keep Smithville beautiful.

KSB Goals:

• Reduce litter and waste
• Improve environmental education and engagement
• Increase the beauty and enjoyment of Smithville
• Protect ecosystems and natural resources
• Support a sustainable and accessible local food system

Examples of projects that KSB supports to achieve these goals:

• Household hazardous waste drop-off events
• Public art and music programs such as Sculptures on Main Street
• Super Sweep litter clean-ups in Spring and Fall
• Sustainable Home and Garden Show community event and student art show in October.
